Founder, Architect

Betsy Yankopolus, AIA, is a registered architect in Florida, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and has worked in architecture for the last 15 years. At firms in New York City and North Central Florida, she has focused on a diverse range of project types, including residential, commercial, science & technology, and healthcare. Before founding Y Studio, Betsy worked for Flad Architects and Content Modern in Gainesville, and Allen Killcoyne Architects in NYC.

Betsy received her Master of Architecture from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in studio art from Indiana University. She was a Big Ten student athlete on the IU women’s varsity rowing team as a coxswain. Additionally, she studied at the Vicenza Institute of Architecture in Vicenza, Italy.

Betsy previously served on the Gainesville AIA board as Vice President, Secretary, and as Associate Director. She was selected and completed the Jacob Leadership Institute program with AIA Florida in 2021.

She and her husband, Nick, have two amazing kiddos, Penelope (6) and Eddie (4). They love visiting family and escaping to Sanibel or St. Augustine. When she’s not chasing her children or pursuing her design passions, she enjoys being out and about in Gainesville with friends, at the parks, and with family at Gator baseball games. In addition to being licensed in Florida, Betsy is licensed in Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Ohio, New Hampshire, and North Carolina.
